From the very beginning, the founders had a vision of creating and maintaining a healthy farming landscape through profitable and environmentally sound farming systems. With this vision, Mah Yong Plantation Sdn. Bhd. was founded in 1986 to address the needs of producing quality sweet corns.
Spurred on by the need to improve profitability for its business on sweet corn, Daily Fresh Foods Sdn. Bhd. was founded in 1997 to pursue healthy farming processing while looking for innovative ways to increase a variety of health food to the market.
Mah Yong has the largest corn plantation in Simpang Renggam and Pontian in Johor, Malaysia with more than 810 hectare of land, which is ideal for the cultivation of corn due to its abundant peat soil. By having its own plantation, the company is able to keep its product affordable and competitive. The farm churns out 275 tonnes of kernel corn monthly. Of this total, 80 percent is exported while the remaining is used for the local market.
To keep our businesses running efficiently, Mah Yong Plantation Sdn. Bhd has been assigned the responsibility to manage the production of sweet corn at the plantation while Daily Fresh Foods Sdn. Bhd will be focusing on strategic business development and franchise operations. Mah Yong has also researched and cultivated growing techniques that are conducive for the corn to be grown in Malaysia's climate and geographical environment for the past few years. These include the introduction of a high quality corn species called "G10" which is exclusively for Daily Fresh Foods only. Since then, our groups of companies have grown in leaps and bounds and Daily Fresh is now a global organization that deals with sweet corn and franchise business worldwide.
While Daily Fresh Foods has been active in caring for the environment and local communities throughout the history of its business operations, the company has embarked on a journey towards long-term corporate sustainability. Under the Daily Fresh brand, the company promotes its ready-to-eat snacks such as crispy Wafito, cool Ice Kimo, low fat Gelato ice-cream and its famous sweet Cup Corn, to satisfy customer’s craving for sweet and savoury snacks. Daily Fresh is marketed via the cafe or kiosk concept in major shopping malls to reach out to its target market that prefers a comfortable and convenient setting.
